Welcome!
Welcome to The Nebraska Nature & Visitor Center Newsletter. We hope to use this newsletter as an important tool to link our friends with the ongoing activities of the Center.
The 2010 Spring Migration is now only a memory, but what a wonderful season it was here at the Center! We saw approximately thousands visitors utilizing over 1000 bridge and blind tours. Thank you to all the volunteers who made this great season possible!

What is The Crimson Crown?
Stop in at the Center and see for yourself! Our new gift shop opened to rave reviews during crane season, and remains an exciting stop at the Center. Featuring our unique t-shirts, caps and sweatshirts plus books by Michael Forsberg and other well-known Nebraskans, we also have an exciting selection of very unique gift items, purses, jewelry, and even furniture. Stop in and let us know what you think!
Stay tuned for an on-line version of the store later this fall.
Camera Club Meets 2nd Thursday of each month
We have started a camera club at the Center. We meet the second Thursday of each month and our next one will be July 8 at 6:30. There is no cost and you are welcome to bring a friend. We have people of all skill levels that come.
Nebraska State Fair
Put August 27 - September 6 on your calendar now! The Nebraska State Fair will begin it's first year in Grand Island, and NNVC will be hosting a booth throughout the fair. The booth will be a wonderful opportunity to let people know about all we have going on at the Center! We will need to man the booth throughout the fair so if you think you would be interested in this opportunity please let us know. And be sure to stop by the booth at the fair and say "hello"!
Chicken and Stars Workshop a Hit!
The Center sponsored the first annual Chicken and Stars Workshop in the Nebraska Sandhills. The participants got a first-hand and up-close look at booming prairie chickens, even having the prairie chickens flying just feet from the blind. The night sky was brilliant and Dan Glomsky educated us all on the wonders of the "night sky". Look for this great workshop to be on the calendar again next spring!
